HTTP://INCIDENT.NET incident@incident.net - English version - ------------------------------------------ SPECIAL ISSUE # 5 > STILL LIFE MORE DELAY: Send projects BEFORE JANUARY 2004, THE 31ST ------------------------------------------ Still Life is at the rear of the painting genre hierarchy, far behind the Portrait and the Landscape - theme that we have already explored - or the other main theme that is Historical Painting. It consists of objects representation, so they are the only or main subject. Objects which are natural or not, food, animals, flowers, daily items. It is thus a question of the object at hand, the way we appropriate them, their life and death, sometimes their vanity. The banality of the Still Life referent makes it the ultimate ontological genre. What are those things that surround us? What are their being, their presence, and their representation? What is the art (or the technique) of the artifice that doesn't belong to nature anymore? Still Life replays the great conflict between art and nature. heirs, to the cutting edge of Miltos Manetas, Still Life always works together with the art history main concerns. It keeps on questioning the problematic even nowadays. Is Life still? Are humans and industrial objects life still? What is left from it, in today's digital and bio technical? Is there a nature of digital objects? How do objects in network become objects themselves? How can we understand our world in observing these objects, theses world? >>> Thank You to send us your zipped project with a short description and a biography to: INCIDENT@INCIDENT.NET BEFORE JANUARY, 2004, the 31st. >>> Only interactive / generative / video projects will be selected.
